How to Choose “Travel Makeup”

There are some really useful makeup tips for women on the road. Of
course, it’s easy to get things done when you are enjoying the comfort of
your own home. There you probably have plenty of baskets, bags and boxes
that contain all your favorite cosmetic products in all the right
colors. But let’s face it, you probably don’t need the entire arsenal when
you hit the road. When you are traveling, it’s absolutely useless to
carry all your seven makeup brushes, twenty different creams, or five
shades of lipstick. So, the real question is, how can you keep your beauty
routine intact but still keep to one small roller and one backpack for
a carry on?

The main thing is to go travel size. For example, you definitely have
certain products that you don’t use every day, so it’s better not to
carry them with you on the road. Make sure you pack the items that you
simply can’t live without for at least 12 hours and place them into your
checked luggage. Also, you might want to consider the special travel
sizes that cosmetics companies produce for their most popular products.

You might even compile a ‘travel makeup’ list and have it on your
computer ready to be printed. It should contain the most important products
that you should definitely have with you. In that way, you can just go
through the list, take each item, pack it and have everything done in
the shorted possible amount of time, instead of wondering all day
whether or not your are forgetting something. You can also keep the list in
the suitcase when traveling, so that you can easily keep track of your
makeup and not loose anything.

If you are flying somewhere just for a couple of days, or going out on
a business trip, make sure you know what items you are allowed to take
in your carry-on bag. The Transportation Security Administration
recently came up with this catchy phrase to help passengers remember more
easily what they are allowed to bring. It’s called the “3-1-1”. 3 –1–1 on
air travel = 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic,
zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. Put the
different bottles into one bag and then X-ray separately to speed screening.
Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. But following
the 3-1-1 will help you have a faster and easier checkpoint experience.
Remember that 3-1-1 is for short trips.
